An Outdoor Lover's Dream


Melissa Coleman’s cedar-clad cabin, The Minne Stuga, was designed with the outdoors in mind. The Colemans restored this once-dilapidated cabin into a space where visitors can relax, recharge, and disconnect from the bustle of daily life. Marvin Skycove and two Marvin Awaken Skylights were installed in the second-floor loft to fill the previously dim space with natural light and views of the surrounding trees. Marvin Ultimate windows and doors replaced permanently fogged windows to make this getaway light and bright.

Before & After: Melissa Coleman’s Northwoods Cabin

From the moment Melissa Coleman first saw the cabin she named The Minne Stuga, she knew it was a special place. The part A-frame, part chalet-style cabin was tucked amid tall pines as if straight out of a fairytale. It was perched on a low-grade hill and overlooked Devil Track Lake, evoking pure Northwoods charm. While it was certainly love at first sight for Coleman and her family, the cabin demanded a makeover.
